NOTE: Yes, this "leak" is FAKE!
Hey, guys!
So, I'm not not some guy named smashcow1121. I created this fake leak as an experiment to see how easy it is get people to believe a leak. I was satisfied with the results since a lot of people were very skeptical and did not believe. But I'm sorry for tricking those of you who did believe it. Anyway, the reason I didn't announce it earlier is because it got overshadowed by Artsy Omni's fake Rayman leak. But here's how I did it!
STEP I: CREATION
Now the main thing about this leak is that as a whole, this project took only two hours to make. I used an online "Photoshop-like" program called the Pixlr Photo Editor (above). The image I started with was this one:
Next I had to create the blue backgrounds. The reasons I chose the Ice Climbers and Lucas is because they are the most missed characters that I hear from everyone, including myself! I also added Mewtwo since he is so far the only known DLC. I chose to place Mewtwo with the Pokemon, Lucas next to Ness, and Nana & Popo next to Little Mac since I felt that the group would be classic NES games (Punch Out!!, Ice Climber, and Duck Hunt if you count the Duck Hunt Dog underneath). I simply made the boxes by creating a similarly blue background to create the image found below:
Next I had to add in the character portraits. So I took to Google to find some good images. This is usually a death sentence for most fake leaks so I had to choose my images wisely:
This is the closest images I could find for Ice Climbers on Wii U.
All I had to do was move Nana & Popo closer to each other so that
they would both fit nicely in the character boxes.
This is the closest images I could find for Lucas on Wii U.
This is the closest images I could find for Mewtwo on Wii U.
I took these images and placed them into on their own layer in front of the blue background but behind the openings I made on the character selection screen. Now the image was starting to look like this:
The last thing I had to take care of was the names of the characters found under their portraits. I was going to just type in my own text with a small outline around it. Instead, I got the idea of copying the letters that already existed under other characters and pasting them in order to spell all the characters' names. (For example, I borrowed the I, E, and C in "LITTLE MAC" to create the "ICE" in "ICE CLIMBERS". Finally I had the selection screen complete:
Now, it was time to put them on a television. So, I went out and found a completely obscure image of TV to past the screen onto:
Finally, with a little cropping, rotating, transparency, brightening, darkening, and warping, I was able to make the screen look as believable as possible. I made sure to also take the step that every "leaker" makes: save the image as a fuzzy .JPG to impersonate the style of a very poor quality camera:
STEP II: THE BACK STORY
Now the story was one of the tougher things to do. I had to write it in a way that I didn't have to put in too much info, but also enough for it to be somewhat believable. I wanted to make sure add in parts like how they could only take photos while the friend was out of the room. This would help save me from having the troubles of making any leaked game play images. I also wanted give the perspective of some who knows what Smash Bros. is but doesn't care enough to give too much information. I did this by adding in multiple spelling and grammar errors.
STEP III: PUBLISHING
My original plan was to post the leak on Disqus, however they unfortunately disabled the post due to it being "unrelated". So, instead I had to take to Blogger instead.
STEP IV: SHARING AND SPREADING
The final step I had to take was to get the story out there and noticed. I did this by posting it as a leak on both Smashpedia (post link) and my YouTube gaming channel, N64GamerReviews (video link). I made sure to add things that didn't make it obvious I made it, like mentioning how it uses existing renders. But I also didn't want to completely debunk, so I pointed out some minor details like the accuracy of the names.
STEP V: FOLLOW-UP
Lastly, I decided to continue the story by adding one more image using similar techniques on the first one. The only difference being some of the characters were highlighted, which I also used from some source images seen below:
STEP VI: CONCLUSION
Overall, I was satisfied with the results. As long as I got some people to believe, I am satisfied with the results. Sure it didn't get as big as I hoped it would, but props to Artsy Omni for getting his to that level. Sorry again to those who believed it, but I'm right their with you guys. I wish this leak were real.

Here's the original posts:
Thanks a lot to disqus, my original post was deleted. luckily i was able to save my story. it's some great unknown info for smash fans.
Hi.
Im not sure who if anyone is going to find this but I have some EXTREMELY
important news for Smash lovers. I have this friend who works at some division
of nintendo. He brought me over to show me new dlc for super smahs bros for the
Wii u that he got a hold of. He made me promise to keep it secret but he
recently pissed me off, you know personal stuff, so i figured I'd get back at
him with this.
Back
to the what he showed me, I was able to quickly snap this image on my phone
when he left the room to grab me a controller. Sorry, i wasn't able to get any
video since he was in the room the rest of the time. As you should be able to
tell by the image, the new dlc includes the already known, Mewtwo, and then two
veterans, lucas and ice climbers. He also showed me the new miiverse stage
which looked pretty much finished. I had to go to work soon so we only had time
for one battle. He chose the ice climbers since they have always been his
favorite and I chose mewtwo since he's the only one I was ever really good at.
The
characters appeared to play similar to their previous versions. The only
difference is they had new final smashes. Mewtwo just transforms him into his
one of his mega evolutions, I can't remember which, and the ice climbers appear
to create a stampede of the enemies from their original game while they stay
safely on that bird thing that drops them off at the beginning of each match.
I'm
not sure how long this will be able to stay up but whatever. I'm just glad to
finally try out mewtwo!
Update, my friend invited me over again
so we could play more. I Was able to snap another photo but this time I wasn’t
able to get anything new. I was able to get more info however. This time I played
as lucas to see how different he was to ness, so I played as ness frist which
is when I took the photo. Lucas appears to play exctly like he did in brawl. The
only different thing he had was his final smash, but it’s just the same thing
as ness.
I did ask how people are expected to get
them. He said mewtwo is for those who bought both the 3ds and wii u versions of
the game, and lucas and ice climbers will be buyable dlc, only the ice climbers
will be wii u exclusive.
I want to get more photos soon but he’s
going to be leaving for a business trip and will be gone for about a week. I’l
try to get more photos hope fuly with the new characters. We’ll see…
You're a fake, how come you didn't post this with the other characters on battle? HUH?
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about dude
DeleteI've seen those renders on Lucas before, it's fake isn't it?

DeleteI don't blame you for believing so; that's are our render after all:

I really doubt we came up with the EXACT same pose Nintendo did.
http://ryo-10pa.deviantart.com/art/R-O-B-Smash-3-485642014
DeleteIt could be real, you also have a ROB render that is identical to the one in smash 4 and a bowser render in a similar pose.
At the top is the link to the ROB render.
It doesent look fake the back ground and text is the way it's sapose to just wish he hovered over the new ones not mario and ness
ReplyDeleteBut it is.
DeleteFake, because daddy Sakuri said there will be no paid dlc for both versions.
ReplyDeleteYet Nintendo has confirmed Mewtwo will be paid DLC for both versions. "Daddy Sakurai" can kiss my ass.
DeleteNo, it's link up dlc, not paid dlc.
Deletelook up facts! mewtwo will be a paid dlc for europe!
DeleteIf there's anything that the full roster leak taught us(the one where Duck Hunt, Shulk and Bowser Jr. were revealed) is that anything's possible! I'm personally hanging on hopes for this be true! We need Ice Climbers in action again!
ReplyDeletePost a picture of the miiverse stage with ice climbers, lucas, and mewtwo doing an animation, that'll be proof enough.
ReplyDeleteI f you guys aren't lbind you'll see that he says he coulden't take a photo during the games since the guy didn't want the leaker to show this stuff
DeleteMewtwo is not paid dlc, it's a link up dlc. Also Ice Climbers are not in smash according the fucking creator. Fake as fuck.
ReplyDeleteMewtwo,(if you idiot's know anything baout smash) will be free if you get both games, but on the website is also says that he will later on in the year be paid dlc. Read the damn posts
DeleteAlso Mii hasn't been unlocked
ReplyDeleteThe Mii hasn't been unlocked because he hasn't created a Mii fighter
DeleteHe didn't say mewtwo will be paid
DeleteThe Lucas portrait is a portrait from a mod for project m called smash 3 lucas
ReplyDeleteThere are enough minor differences that this could be real. Everyone said the Shulk leak was fake because he looked like Little Mac. We'll just see. The Ice Climbers are a new render, so you never know.
DeleteKind of a dick move on your behalf, you could cost him his awesome job over this. What did he do to you, kill your puppy?
ReplyDeleteI actually believe you as long you post more pics and ask him questions when there going to be released and are there going to be more characters
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm so hyped! Please just post a Lucas photo and ill lose my shit! Is your friend on the trip already?
ReplyDeletePlease post a Lucas pic in action or one with the three dlc characters please. I want to know if Lucas will come back!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've simply accepted the fact that this is fake. The leaker hasn't posted anything in half a month,it
ReplyDeletereally isn't that hard to say let me come over and play smash.
I've put this image into paint.net and found zero flaws in it. You can't say it's fake, and you can't say it's real either. For this guy to pull a stunt like this, he has to risk his friends job. That's a big job for him to do, so it's not surprising that he hasn't posted. If he doesn't, let's wait until Mewtwo releases. If Mewtwo's portrait is the same as it is in this picture, it's almost guaranteed to be authentic.
DeleteI just really want Lucas confirmation! I'm filled with hype but everytimet a new leak appears it gets debunked so quickly! I just want a picture of Lucas and gameplay :(
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteBelieve me... I want Lucas just as much as you do. He's my main!
DeleteI hope it's true too. Only time will tell
How is this real? I've seen those renders for Lucas before. And Nintendo would absolutely not use existing renders.
DeletePLEASE UPDATE!!
ReplyDeletePEOPLE
ReplyDeleteThis is fake.
The Lucas picture on the select screen was taken from a Brawl Mod.

This is a fake, the "leaker" is full of shit.
We all need the leaker to post another picture or something. it's been so Damn long and if his friend went to the business trip he should be back by now. Just, leaker, show something new.
ReplyDeleteYou seem pretty convincing but I'm still inclined to think it's fake - there's nothing to prove it definitely, and the only questionable things are the existing renders and the "Ice Climbers Wii U exclusive" - if they were added, then it seems much more likely that they'd be Wii U _and_ New 3DS exclusive, to keep somewhat inline with Sakurai's "all characters on all platforms" vision.
ReplyDeletePlease either update or confirm fake like good fake leakers do.
ReplyDeleteWhen Nintendo said that the Legend of Zelda for the Wii U was moved out of its holiday 2015 release this year and that it wouldn't be appearing at this year's E3 .
